File recovery and drive scanning
Puran File Recovery (64-bit) functions as a data recovery application that scans storage media for deleted files, lost file records, and missing partitions. It operates across logical drives, physical disks, and RAW storage by identifying file system structures and data signatures. This free software provides multiple scan modes, including Quick Scan for recently deleted entries, Deep Scan for extended record analysis, and Full Scan for partition-level detection.
Puran File Recovery (64-bit) supports recovery from formatted drives and scans devices recognized by desktop, regardless of file system type. The interface presents detected files, directory paths, and allows viewing of the content prior to recovery.
Scanning and recovery operations
Puran File Recovery (64-bit) scanning system is divided into Quick, Deep, and Full Scan processes. Quick Scan reads existing file system records to locate deleted entries on FAT and NTFS volumes. Deep Scan analyzes storage sectors sequentially to identify lost file references beyond active records. Full Scan extends this process to partition discovery, examining physical drives and RAW volumes. These scans operate independently of mounted file systems.
It applies signature-based detection during Deep and Full scans, identifying files through predefined data patterns rather than directory references. Over 50 file signatures are included by default, with user-expandable definitions for additional formats. Sector-level scanning compares raw data blocks against these signatures, enabling file reconstruction when metadata is unavailable. Because this process bypasses file system logic, recovery remains possible from formatted drives, corrupted volumes, and storage with damaged allocation tables.
Recovered file handling includes path reconstruction when directory data is available. It lists original folder hierarchies for many deleted items, including those from formatted partitions. Files can be previewed before recovery through built-in viewers. Search and filtering tools support wildcard queries to narrow scan results by name or extension. Recovered data can be saved while preserving directory structures detected during the scan. However, it lacks built-in scheduling or automation functions.
Data rescued
Puran File Recovery (64-bit) includes multiple scan modes, sector-level signature detection, and partition discovery across logical and physical storage. It supports recovery from deleted files, formatted drives, and RAW volumes, with preview and path reconstruction features available when data structures permit. The software focuses exclusively on file and partition recovery without extending into backup creation, disk health analysis, or data repair functions.
